Help build a more intelligent, sustainable and resilient society.

Back-end developer [intern/student, junior], 16h-32h/week

Are you enthusiastic about having a positive impact on society? Are you an IT student (or equivalent) with proficiency in back-end developing and looking for a parttime job? Are you ready to put your skills into use by furthering some of the most challenging transitions?

At Kalavasta we work on discovering and realising sustainable equilibria. We develop insights and models which enable people and organisations to make changes towards a more sustainable and resilient society. Our main focus is on the energy transition, where we are working on a systemic, integral and transparent carbon transition model in which transition paths for the energy intensive industry can be modelled. In addition, we develop insights for a fair and just energy transition using the beleidtransitiemodel. We have also become active in the agri-food-nature transition, for which we are developing a separate transition model. Furthermore, we have developed climate neutral energy scenarios for the grid operators’ investment outlook for 2050, analysed investments required for the Dutch energy transition, built a custom supply chain model to evaluate import costs and costs’ dependencies for renewable hydrogen and more.

We are looking to expand our team with a parttime junior backend developer who will work on improving and maintaining the front-end and back-end of our transition models. The team of developers at Kalavasta is small and the diversity of tasks is large, which means this is a challenging position with a lot of ownership and responsibilities.

At Kalavasta, we want to give our people the freedom to work in a way that suits them the best. For us this means that we do not have a fixed office. We work from home most days but meet up periodically on ‘office days’ to work together. We expect you to find a way of working that enables you to bring the best results. Whether this means taking advantage of a good concentration very early in the morning or improving your focus by taking a walk or doing some sports in the middle of your day.
