About Izzy
I grew up in New Zealand with some of the world's most incredible nature on my doorstep and the ethos of "be a tidy Kiwi" hammered in early - somewhere between the two, you develop a fairly unshakeable sense of responsibility for the world around you. One of the biggest reasons I moved to the Netherlands, and learned Dutch, was the ease of actually living that out: the ability to cycle everywhere and have good vegetarian food!
At Kalavasta, I work at the intersection of economic analysis and energy policy, covering sectors ranging from agriculture to heavy industry and the built environment. My work includes advising on carbon pricing schemes for the greenhouse and dairy industries and modelling the financing of the energy transition.
My dream project would combine my expertise in economic policy and my passion for sustainable and homemade fashion: designing policy that makes fast fashion pay for what it actually costs – in carbon, waste and labour – while keeping second-hand options affordable and accessible for everyone.
