About Bart

Model development and the energy transition have fascinated me since I started studying. That interest led me to a Master's in Energy Science at Utrecht University, where the two started to come together.

In 2020, I joined Kalavasta, a company where quantitative analysis and modelling sit at the heart of everything we do. My focus is on energy system analysis and energy intensive industry. For every project I work on, I try to zoom out and place it within a broader, integral energy systems perspective. Many questions in the energy system simply can't be answered in isolation: energy markets and infrastructure connect everything, so a change in one part inevitably ripples into another, and vice versa. That's why I try to approach these questions from an integral, systems-level view. This often required building quantitative models that can capture these interactions.

What I enjoy most is what comes after: translating complex, nuanced outcomes into clear and useful insights.
